Nigeria’s Super Falcons have moved one place up to the 36th position in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released by the world football governing body this Tuesday.

The Justine Madugu-led side have thus maintained their status as the number one team in Africa. Their dominance remains unchallenged following their recent competitive outing in March, where they faced off against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly. This consistent performance reinforces their reputation as the reigning African champions.

Beyond Nigeria, the African top five consists of South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, and Zambia. Meanwhile, the global leaderboard remains led by Spain, who held onto the top spot. They are followed closely by the United States of America in second, with England, Germany, and Japan completing the world’s top five elite teams.

FIFA has scheduled the release of the next women’s world ranking for Tuesday, June 16.
