Controversial Nigerian entertainer, Portable, has once again stirred the pot, boldly challenging former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, to a boxing match.
Speaking on Thursday during a heated face-off for his upcoming bout against streamer Carter Efe, the singer declared he is ready to step into the ring with the professional heavyweight if offered a staggering ₦1 billion purse. Proclaiming himself the true face of Nigerian boxing, Portable dismissed any doubters, asserting, “For ₦1 billion, I’ll take you down.”
The audacious claim comes as Portable prepares for an exhibition match against Carter Efe, scheduled for Friday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The “Zazu” crooner revealed he has already secured a ₦40 million appearance fee for this fight, with further incentives on the line. According to the singer, prominent figures E-Money and Soso Soberekon have pledged an additional ₦50 million and a new car should he emerge victorious against the popular streamer.
Carter Efe, not to be outdone, confirmed his participation was fueled by the high stakes, noting he was informed the winner would walk away with a ₦50 million grand prize.
While many view Portable’s call-out of Anthony Joshua as a characteristic publicity stunt, the singer has maintained an active, albeit unconventional, presence in the ring. His resume includes a string of victories over social media personalities and industry figures, keeping him at the center of Nigeria’s growing celebrity boxing subculture.
Portable’s recent track record suggests he is taking his “fighter” persona seriously, having defeated social media personality Speed Darlington in April 2025. This followed earlier wins against actor Charles Okocha in late 2023 and Kelvin Power, Kizz Daniel’s bodyguard, in early 2024.
Whether his ₦1 billion demand is a genuine ambition or merely hype, the entertainer continues to prove that his ability to command headlines is just as sharp as his persona in the ring.
