Governor Umo Eno has reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to transforming Akwa Ibom into a premier tourism destination.
Speaking during an unscheduled inspection of the Ibom International Convention Arena, the Governor emphasized that the massive infrastructural development within the complex is a core component of his ARISE Agenda.
He noted that the state is strategically positioning its tourism sector to become a major economic driver, with all necessary facilities currently being fast-tracked for public use.
The Governor toured the expansive “Ibom International Convention Arena” ecosystem, which integrates several high-profile projects. This includes the Ibom International Convention Centre, the International Hotel, the Ibom Arise Shopping City, and a dedicated Theme Park.

According to Governor Eno, these facilities are designed to work in synergy to accommodate the influx of visitors expected from the nearby Victor Attah International Airport, creating a seamless experience for business and leisure travelers alike.
Highlighting the capacity of the flagship Convention Centre, the Governor revealed that the facility is equipped to host world-class events, featuring a 5,000-seater main hall, various break-out rooms, a banquet hall, and an amphitheater.
To complement this, the 250-room International Hotel is being developed to provide luxury lodging within the same precinct.
Governor Eno expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Arise Shopping City, noting that the entire ecosystem is currently “keeping to schedule.”

During the tour, Governor Eno extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the federal government’s role in making funds available to sub-national governments. He credited this financial support as a catalyst for the steady execution of these capital-intensive projects.
The Governor maintained that the timely completion of the Arena would significantly boost the state’s internally generated revenue and put Akwa Ibom on the global tourism map.
The Governor was accompanied on the inspection by a high-level team, including the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, alongside members of the State Executive Council and other senior government functionaries.
The visit underscored the administration’s “hands-on” approach to project monitoring, ensuring that contractors adhere to the high standards and timelines set by the state government.
