Nigeria’s women’s U-20 national team, the Falconets, have been drawn in Group F alongside former champions Spain, China, and debutants New Caledonia for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The official draw ceremony, held on Friday in Lodz, Poland, has set up a highly competitive and thrilling preliminary stage for the seven-time African champions as they prepare for a shot at global glory.
The Falconets enter the tournament widely regarded as one of the most consistent teams in the history of the competition.
Nigeria remarkably remains the only African nation to have qualified for every single edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since its inception.

Having finished as runners-up on two previous occasions, the team will once again be chasing their elusive, first-ever world title.
On paper, Nigeria’s toughest group-stage challenge is expected to come from Spain, a dominant force in European women’s football and former world champions at this level.
The group also features China, who bring vast experience and tactical pedigree from Asia, alongside New Caledonia, who will be making their historic debut appearance on the global stage.
Despite the demanding draw, the Falconets remain hopeful of progressing deep into the knockout rounds as they aim to finally convert years of consistent promise into ultimate global success.
The 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place across four host cities in Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026.
