The Super Eagles of Nigeria successfully defended their Unity Cup title on Saturday evening with a commanding 3-0 victory over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz in the final at The Valley.
Eric Chelle’s clinical side showed exactly why they are champions, dominating the encounter from the opening whistle to retain the trophy they captured last year.
Nigeria, who earned their spot in the final after a convincing 2-0 win against Zimbabwe, wasted no time asserting their authority on Saturday.
Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf opened the scoring just four minutes into the match, reacting quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area.
After a long throw was flicked on, Jamaica goalkeeper, Teddy Sharman-Lowe, managed an initial save, but Yusuf was perfectly positioned to smash home the rebound.

The Super Eagles maintained control of the tempo well into the second half, doubling their advantage in the 59th minute thanks to Terem Moffi.
Femi Azeez, who has been one of the standout performers of the tournament, delivered a pinpoint cross from the left flank.
Moffi timed his run beautifully, rising highest in the box to head the ball past the helpless Jamaican goalkeeper.
Despite enjoying brief spells of possession, Jamaica struggled to break down a resilient Nigerian defense and create meaningful opportunities.
The Reggae Boyz had a strong penalty appeal waved away during a rare second-half attack when Nigerian goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo, collided with Kaheim Dixon, but the referee was unmoved by the protests.
Nigeria remained entirely comfortable throughout the closing stages and put the icing on the cake deep into stoppage time.
Yusuf struck again to secure his brace and wrap up a flawless evening for the West African giants. The emphatic victory further cements Nigeria’s historical dominance in the competition, with the Super Eagles now having won all four editions of the Unity Cup since its inception in 2002.
