A female student of Osun State University has accused a soldier of attempting to sexually assault her during a violent military raid on off-campus student hostels in Osogbo on Monday night.
The victim, identified simply as Ademola, recounted her ordeal in a video shared by Osun Defender, explaining that she was alone in her room preparing a meal when personnel from the Nigerian Army Depot Osogbo stormed the residence.
According to her account, the soldiers initially moved through the area before returning later in the evening to aggressively knock on doors and search rooms.
Recalling the terrifying moments, Ademola stated that the soldiers directed flashlights into her room and demanded she open the door, questioning how many occupants were inside.
After entering, one of the soldiers allegedly pinned her against her bathroom door, telling her she “would like it” and ordering her not to shout.
Despite her pleas, the situation escalated when a second soldier entered the room, but instead of intervening, he allegedly encouraged his colleague, telling the student to calm down and reiterating that she would enjoy the encounter.
Ademola managed to break free from the soldier’s grip and moved toward the exit, demanding that they leave.
When she began screaming and raising the alarm, both soldiers fled the room, allowing her to force the door shut behind them before another student came to check on her.
The attempted assault was part of a broader, highly destructive raid on Monday night, during which soldiers reportedly beat multiple students and confiscated more than 60 mobile phones and other electronic devices.
Eyewitnesses also claimed that some female students were stripped and forced to dance naked during the multi-hostel invasion.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, prompting the Southwest Zone D of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to submit a formal petition to the military authorities.
The student body has demanded immediate justice, accountability, and the safeguarding of student residential areas from further military harassment.
In response to the growing backlash, the Nigerian Army Depot in Osogbo announced on Tuesday that it has officially launched an investigation into the incident.
Military officials assured the public that the inquiry will thoroughly establish the circumstances surrounding the raid, promising that any personnel found culpable will face strict disciplinary and legal action.
