The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to formally usher in a new era in its leadership on Friday, as outgoing Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede hands over the reins to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina.
The board announced that the official handover ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM and will be broadcast live across its official social media platforms.
In a notice released on Wednesday, JAMB invited stakeholders and the general public to witness this significant milestone in the institution’s history, marking the official conclusion of Oloyede’s tenure.
The transition comes following the appointment of Prof. Aina as the new Registrar by President Bola Tinubu, a decision communicated in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Aina, a distinguished Professor of Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, brings extensive expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reforms to his new role.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Kent, alongside a Master’s degree and a PhD from Loughborough University, United Kingdom, and has further completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
With over 15 years of experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation and systems design, the incoming registrar is well-acquainted with the sector.
He has previously served as a consultant to prominent examination bodies such as the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), focusing heavily on ICT systems and examination integrity.
Recognized as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, Aina’s appointment also makes him the youngest registrar in the history of JAMB.
President Tinubu has expressed strong confidence that the incoming registrar will consolidate the numerous reforms and achievements recorded under Oloyede’s transformative administration.
The Presidency emphasized that Aina’s robust background in digital innovation will be vital in further strengthening the operations, transparency, and technological framework of the examination body.
Friday’s ceremony thus serves as both a celebration of Oloyede’s impactful legacy and an introduction to the next chapter of leadership for the nation’s tertiary matriculation board.
