The Akwa Ibom State Government has strongly refuted allegations leveled by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, who accused Governor Umo Eno of orchestrating an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raid and seizure of former Governor Udom Emmanuel’s residence in Lagos.
In a formal statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, the state government dismissed the claims made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) politician as completely false, reckless, and lacking any factual basis.
Clearing the air on the matter, the government emphasized that Governor Eno has never petitioned or reported anyone, including his predecessor, to the anti-graft agency.
The statement highlighted that the current administration remains firmly committed to fostering political harmony, peace, and reconciliation across the state.
The state government further criticized Akpanudoedehe, alleging that his statements were a calculated attempt to mislead the public, incite unrest, and reopen old political divides.
The statement also referenced the senator’s past political history, citing his alleged involvement in the violence that marred the 2011 governorship elections in the state.
Reaffirming its resolve to maintain law and order, the government cautioned Akpanudoedehe and other political figures to exercise restraint in their public utterances.
It warned that Akwa Ibom would not allow itself to be dragged back into an era characterized by the politics of bitterness, destruction, and instability.
