Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has directed a review of the salaries and remuneration of clan heads and village heads across the state.
Governor Eno made this known during the presentation of certificates of recognition to newly recognised traditional rulers at the State Supreme Traditional Rulers Council Hall in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of traditional rulers, disclosing that modalities had been put in place to review their monthly remuneration.
According to Governor Eno, the review is part of efforts to strengthen the welfare of traditional institutions and ensure that traditional rulers are adequately supported in carrying out their responsibilities within their communities.
He congratulated the newly recognised traditional rulers and urged them to discharge their duties with transparency, responsibility and fairness.
He said their conduct should reflect the confidence reposed in them by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
