Falz Urges Nigerians to Reject Division, Says Leaders Exploit Religion for Power

Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, is speaking out once again — this time over the growing wave of tribal and religious tension in the country.

The award-winning artiste says it’s been deeply depressing watching Nigerians turn against one another over political, ethnic, and religious differences — divisions he believes are deliberately fueled by those in power.

Falz’s comments follow a heated clash on social media between Christian and Muslim youths, after reports surfaced that former U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly threatened military action in Nigeria to “protect Christians.”

Describing the situation as unfortunate, Falz urged Nigerians to stop allowing religion and ethnicity to be used as tools of division, stressing that the country cannot truly progress until citizens begin to think for themselves.

He said, “It’s been heartbreaking to watch how easily we’re still divided by tribal and religious lines. At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves.”

The rapper, who’s long been vocal about social justice and civic responsibility, also warned that politicians often exploit these divisions to hold onto power while ordinary citizens remain distracted.

Falz says it’s time for Nigerians to wake up, look beyond the lines, and focus on building a united nation.
