The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the immediate commencement of specialised youth skills development training and empowerment programmes across the seven newly commissioned youth-friendly centres in the state.

According to a news release issued by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umana, the initiative was approved by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, as a core component of the administration’s steadfast commitment to youth development and robust human capital investment.

The comprehensive programme is specifically designed to equip eligible citizens with practical, marketable skills aimed at fostering self-reliance, driving entrepreneurship, and boosting broader economic empowerment throughout the state.

Training sessions will be conducted across the designated centres located in Oron, Ikono, Uruan, Etinan, Nsit Atai, Nsit Ubium, and Etim Ekpo, with specialized curricula tailored to the unique skill sets assigned to each respective centre.

This new phase, implemented by the Ministry of Youth Development, builds directly upon the success of the Cohort 1 youth digital skills training programme in Oron, which has its grand graduation ceremony scheduled for October 9, 2026.

To qualify for the opportunity, applicants must be no older than 45 years of age, hail from and reside in the local government area where the training centre is situated, apply strictly for a skill of genuine interest that is assigned to that centre, and commit to being fully available for the intensive three-month training programme.

The Akwa Ibom State Government is strongly encouraging all eligible youths to seize this golden opportunity to acquire transformational skills, with interested applicants directed to submit their applications via the official portal at employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng, which opened on September 28, 2026, and closes on October 5, 2026.
