The Uyo Township Stadium was a scene of celebration as Akwa United FC and Ibom Angels FC secured the men’s and women’s State FA Cup titles, respectively.
In a high-stakes double-header, the Orange Ladies set the tone for the day with a clinical 2-0 victory over Solo Wonders FC, finding the back of the net in each half to assert their dominance.

The men’s final followed with a tense, tactical battle between NNL sides, Akwa United and Godswill Akpabio United FC. The match remained goalless through regulation time, forcing the game into a dramatic penalty shootout, where the Promise Keepers demonstrated superior composure to clinch a 5-4 win.
The event featured a touch of international flair with the presence of Serbian FIFA-licensed agent, Dušan Vujačić. Serving as the guest of honour, Vujačić performed the ceremonial kick-off for the men’s final under the watchful eyes of various football scouts and state dignitaries. He was also on hand to present medals and the trophy to two-time national Federation Cup winners, after their shootout win.
While the silverware provided the immediate glory, all four finalists had already achieved a significant milestone prior to kick-off. By reaching the state finals, Akwa United, Godswill Akpabio United, Ibom Angels, and Solo Wonders had all officially qualified for the national stage.
They will now represent the state in the upcoming draws for the President’s Federation Cup.
