Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a stern warning to socio-cultural organizations and key stakeholders across the state, cautioning them against using their platforms to stoke ethnic tension and rivalry.
The Governor delivered this address on Sunday during a special interdenominational service held at the International Christian Worship Center in Uyo.
The solemn gathering was organized to mark the 39th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State, drawing leaders and worshippers from various walks of life.
During his speech, Governor Eno made his stance clear, promising that his administration will not hesitate to immediately disband any group or platform that blatantly flouts this directive.
He emphasized that the prevailing peace and unity enjoyed by residents must never be taken for granted.
Reflecting on the state’s trajectory, the Governor stressed that all developmental achievements recorded over the past 39 years are tied directly to communal harmony.
He warned that progress cannot be sustained in an environment plagued by sectional friction and mutual suspicion.
Delving deeper into social cohesion, Governor Eno asserted that political differences must never be allowed to degenerate into personal hatred.
He further noted that ethnic diversity should not become a tool for division, and religious differences must never translate into hostility among citizens.
Concluding his remarks, the Governor defended his administration’s pursuit of a progressive movement geared toward enlightened state interests, calling it a visionary approach given Nigeria’s current political climate.
He rounded off the anniversary celebration by expressing profound gratitude to God for the state’s remarkable journey so far.
