The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has assured residents that the persistent challenges facing the state’s power sector will be fully resolved within the next 18 months.
The Governor gave this ambitious timeline on Thursday, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to transforming the state’s energy landscape.
Governor Eno made the declaration while speaking at the formal inauguration ceremony of the pioneer members of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The high-profile event, which marks a new chapter in the state’s energy governance, was held at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Uyo.
Describing the event as a significant milestone, the Governor emphasized that the establishment of the commission is central to the state’s quest to provide stable and reliable electricity to its citizens.

Directly addressing the newly inaugurated commissioners, Governor Eno stated that their selection was a deliberate reflection of his administration’s strict commitment to professionalism, competence, and merit.
He charged the pioneer members to deploy their expertise diligently to establish a transparent and efficient regulatory framework that will attract critical utility investors.
In his closing remarks, the Governor reiterated that access to uninterrupted power remains a non-negotiable driver of sustainable development and improved living standards.
