Oritsejafor Blasts Current Leaders: You Called Jonathan ‘Clueless,’ Now It’s Your Turn

Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has heavily criticized the current political class, asserting that many individuals who labeled former President Goodluck Jonathan as “clueless” are now the ones steering the nation into deeper crises.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oritsejafor questioned the competence of these current leaders, recalling how they aggressively protested and sabotaged Jonathan’s administration under the guise of fighting insecurity and corruption. “Now they have the clue, but look at where Nigeria is now,” the cleric remarked, adding that he has zero regrets about supporting Jonathan during the 2015 presidential election.

Turning his focus to the current administration, the prominent cleric delivered a scathing assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s government, claiming it has inflicted unprecedented hardship on the nation.

Oritsejafor argued that the administration has severely worsened Nigeria’s existing challenges and effectively neutralized the government’s ability to reverse the country’s declining economic and social fortunes.

He further dismissed the administration’s “Renewed Hope” slogan as a farce, stating that the average Nigerian has completely lost confidence in the wake of rampant inflation and worsening insecurity.

While stopping short of explicitly demanding the president’s resignation, Oritsejafor urged President Tinubu to conduct an honest self-assessment regarding his capacity to govern.

He cautioned the president against pretending to have solutions to Nigeria’s complex issues when the reality on the ground suggests otherwise. “Don’t pretend that you can take Nigeria out of where it is now, when you know you can’t,” the cleric advised, urging the administration to stop masking its shortcomings with political rhetoric.

In a final, direct warning, the former CAN president strongly advised Tinubu against seeking a second term in office.

Oritsejafor implored the president to abandon any aspirations for reelection, stating that Nigerians cannot endure a continuation of the current economic and social turmoil.

He concluded with a stern appeal to the administration to focus on fixing the immediate damage rather than dreaming of coming back to continue what he described as a “mess.”
