President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 prominent Nigerians to serve on the executive boards and governing councils of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.
Among the top-tier appointments is former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, who has been named Chairman of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), alongside Major General Junaid Bindawa (rtd), who now heads the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
According to an official statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the new appointments reflect the administration’s strategic drive to reposition critical federal institutions for enhanced productivity, national development, and efficient service delivery across key sectors.
Under the new board structure for the Rural Electrification Agency, Fayose will lead the agency’s leadership team alongside newly appointed members and Non-Executive Directors, Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta.
The appointments aim to strengthen the agency’s mandate in expanding electricity access to unserved and underserved rural communities across the nation.
The restructured REA board also integrates its current operational executive leadership.
The incumbent Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, along with three previously appointed Executive Directors, complete the remaining membership of the governing board to ensure continuity and seamless execution of ongoing federal power projects.
In addition to Major General Bindawa’s leadership at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, President Tinubu approved eight key appointments to the body.
Former House of Representatives member representing Lagos, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, assumes the role of Commission Secretary, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) have been appointed as Executive Commissioners to represent their respective states and geopolitical zones.
