Renowned Nigerian Afro-house singer and songwriter, Niniola Apata, has announced the sudden and heartbreaking death of her husband, Michael Ndika.

The Grammy-nominated artiste took to her official Instagram account early Wednesday morning to share the devastating news with her fans and followers in a series of deeply emotional posts.

Ndika was a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to promoting Afro-house and contemporary African music.

The multi-talented vocalist, who has famously guarded her personal life from the glare of social media and the public eye, broke her usual privacy to express her immense grief online.

In a succession of brief but painful updates, Niniola wrote, “God took him,” followed by another post stating, “My husband died.” In a third, deeply raw post reflecting on the length of their relationship, she added, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”

As of the time of reporting, the specific circumstances surrounding Ndika’s untimely passing have not been disclosed by the family.

The sudden announcement has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian and African music industry, with colleagues, fans, and well-wishers flooding social media with messages of condolence and support for the grieving music star during this incredibly difficult time.

The 39-year-old singer first shot into the limelight after emerging as the first runner-up on the 2013 edition of Project Fame West Africa.

She subsequently achieved global stardom with her 2017 smash hit single Maradona, a track that solidified her status as the “Queen of Afro-House” and earned her high praise from international music heavyweights such as Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
