Governor Umo Eno has formally commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for strengthening its operational presence in Akwa Ibom State, noting that the expansion has significantly enhanced local security and boosted investor confidence.

Speaking during an operational visit by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Governor highlighted that the military’s presence is a cornerstone for the state’s ongoing economic stability.

The visit focused on inspecting facilities at the newly operational 309 Composite Group in Eket, a development the Governor described as a vital milestone for the region.

The Governor emphasized that the establishment of the 309 Composite Group is already yielding tangible safety benefits, not only for Akwa Ibom but for the wider Niger Delta area.

Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with national security agencies, maintaining that a secure environment is the primary pillar upon which all other developmental goals rest.

He noted that the visible presence of the Air Force has served as a powerful deterrent to criminal elements, thereby creating a safer atmosphere for residents and businesses alike.

In response, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke praised the Akwa Ibom State Government for its proactive support in facilitating the base’s establishment. He described the new unit as a strategic asset specifically designed to enhance national security operations through modern warfare capabilities.

The Chief of the Air Staff noted that the state’s cooperation was instrumental in transitioning the 309 Composite Group from a conceptual plan to an active, operational reality that serves the interests of the entire federation.

Looking ahead, the Air Force leadership explained that the Eket-based unit will play a critical role in intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, and rapid response missions across the Niger Delta’s sensitive maritime and land corridors.

By integrating advanced surveillance technology with quick-strike capabilities, the NAF aims to protect critical infrastructure and ensure that the improved security conditions continue to drive economic growth and strengthen investor trust throughout the state.
