The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the alleged operations of the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council has declared the appointment letter presented by the council’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, to be forged.
The committee’s Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, made the disclosure on Wednesday during a continuation of the investigative hearing in the nation’s capital.
According to Gagdi, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, appeared before the panel for a second time and officially confirmed that the documents presented by Adeyemi lacked authenticity. “It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG; it was established,” Gagdi stated during the proceedings.
Walson-Jack’s testimony came in compliance with formal summons issued by the panel to deliver her final submissions regarding the controversial council. Also in attendance at the high-profile hearing were Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, both representing the Inspector-General of Police. However, the embattled Adeyemi was conspicuously absent from the proceedings.
The legislative panel previously classified the establishment and operation of the purported council as a severe breach of protocol.
During Monday’s session, lawmakers directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within a 48-hour window.
Members of the House emphasized that Adeyemi’s physical presence is critical for explaining how the organization allegedly secured official recognition and managed government correspondence.
The ad hoc committee’s sweeping investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to trace the origins of the falsified documents.
