In a significant show of political support, beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in Anambra State have officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
During a gathering at the Igbariam campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University on Friday, the students announced a collective donation of ₦10,735,500 specifically intended to fund the purchase of the President’s expression of interest form for his re-election bid.
The Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council in Anambra, Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemeka, characterized the gesture as a direct “thank you” for the administration’s educational reforms.
He noted that the NELFUND scheme has been transformative, effectively lowering the barrier to entry for higher education and alleviating the chronic financial burdens faced by students across the state.
Beyond the presidency, the student body also extended their gratitude to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Chukwuemeka praised the Governor’s commitment to improving educational standards and his support for the student community, highlighting the synergy between state leadership and the federal government’s youth-focused initiatives.
This coordinated effort, according to the council, has significantly strengthened student organization and developmental mobilization within the Southeast region.
The event featured several prominent figures, including businessman Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), who was commended for his role in youth empowerment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boys Movement.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the State Women Leader of the group, Adaora Soludo, and State Coordinator, Nonso Ozoemena, alongside various Student Union Government (SUG) presidents who gathered to witness the symbolic endorsement.
