Ahead of the upcoming primary elections, a prominent aspirant for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mahmud Sadis Buba, has officially withdrawn from the race.
Popularly known as Al-ajabin Zazzau, Buba announced his exit through a formal withdrawal letter addressed to the APC Kaduna State Chairman, which he later shared on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.
He stated that the decision followed extensive reconciliation efforts by party leadership and deep consultations with key stakeholders.
In his letter, Buba described the move as a difficult but necessary sacrifice aimed at preserving the unity and ensuring the success of the ruling party at the upcoming polls.
Expressing gratitude to Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the state party leadership; noting that his experience during the nomination process was enriching.
He emphasized that backing a single, consensus candidate had become paramount to securing victory for the APC and fostering continued progress within the constituency and Kaduna State.
Reaffirming his absolute loyalty to the APC, the former aspirant urged his followers to accept the development with maturity and composure. “My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” Buba stated.
He assured party leaders that he remains a faithful member committed to working tirelessly for the eventual flagbearer, while appealing to his supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s final decision.
Buba’s sudden exit comes on the heels of intense online controversy regarding his eligibility, specifically surrounding his age.
In the buildup to the primaries, critics circulated images alleging to be the data page of his international passport, claiming the aspirant was only 16 years old.
However, countering reports and supporters maintained that Buba is 30 years old, a dispute that heavily dominated local political discussions prior to his withdrawal.
