The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, alongside key party stakeholders, has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in the Oron Federal Constituency.

The exercise culminated in the successful return of the incumbent, Senator Ekong Sampson, who secured the party’s ticket for a second term representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

Speaking with journalists, Dr. Eyakenyi attributed the hitch-free nature of the primaries to Governor Umo Eno’s pragmatic leadership, which she noted has united the people into a formidable movement, completely eliminating thuggery, violence, and political acrimony from the process.

Expressing gratitude to Oron leaders and stakeholders for their unwavering support of the current administration, the Deputy Governor highlighted that Senator Sampson ran as the sole aspirant, receiving an overwhelming affirmative vote from the massive crowd of delegates.

She affirmed that the five local government areas comprising the Oron Federal Constituency remain a solid stronghold for the APC. Confident of the party’s grassroots dominance, Dr. Eyakenyi assured that this unified front guarantees a clean sweep for all APC candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Reacting to the peaceful outcome at the grassroots level, the Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Hon. Okon Enweme, described the primary election as entirely seamless, noting that Senator Sampson faced no opposition.

Enweme emphasized that the community mobilized heavily to demonstrate their appreciation for Governor Umo Eno.

He cited life-changing interventions in Oron, including the Oron Beach maritime infrastructure, state-of-the-art model schools, upgraded hospitals, and extensive road networks as the driving force behind the people’s loyalty.

Echoing similar sentiments, the Council Chairman of Urue Offong Oruko, Hon. Uno Etim Uno, stated that the area’s electorate deliberately chose to deliver a block vote for Senator Sampson as an extension of their support for the Governor.

According to Hon. Uno, backing the incumbent senator aligns with the collective decision of the people to follow Governor Eno, whose leadership has fostered peace, development, and unity across the entire state.
