A chilling new video has emerged online showing victims abducted in Oyo State pleading with the Federal Government to halt any planned military rescue operations.
In the footage, the abductees warned that attempting a forceful rescue would drastically endanger their lives. The video surfaced shortly after President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate deployment of security personnel to the area to secure the victims’ release from the armed gang.
Speaking from the kidnappers’ camp, Rachael Alamu, a school principal among the captives, revealed that the presence of security forces has severely heightened tensions.
She explained that the abductors became highly agitated upon learning that army personnel had been deployed into the bush, noting that the development has only compounded the victims’ troubles and worsened their current situation.
According to Alamu, the kidnappers have already selected one captive for possible execution to protest the government’s reliance on force rather than negotiation.
The armed group has reportedly threatened to retaliate and kill every single hostage if security operatives make any further attempts to advance into their hideout.
Desperate for a peaceful resolution, Alamu made a passionate appeal to government officials and security agencies to prioritize dialogue over military action. “We are pleading with you not to force yourself into the bush, but please call them and dialogue with them so that we will be able to go home alive,” she begged, emphasizing that negotiation is the only way to ensure they survive the ordeal.
