The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty Nteyin Dr Solomon Daniel Etuk, has called on socio-cultural organisations across the state to develop comprehensive databases capturing the needs of their communities.
He said such data-driven approaches would enable government and development agencies to effectively engage youths at the grassroots and address pressing socio-economic challenges.
The monarch, who also serves as the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area and Clan Head of Western Nsit, made the call on Tuesday when the executive members and stakeholders of Mboho Ndito Nsit, Nsit Ubium Chapter – led by Chairman, Apostle Ndianabasi Etim Ita – paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.
Data-Driven Development Critical for Youth Engagement
Etuk stressed that accurate community-level data is essential for designing targeted interventions, particularly in inner-city areas where youth unemployment and social dislocation remain prevalent.
“Socio-cultural organisations must move beyond ceremonial roles and begin to document the real needs of their communities. This will help government and relevant agencies to properly engage our youths at the grassroots,” he said.
He commended the group for its commitment to the Nsit nation but cautioned against turning the association into a platform for “social grandstanding.”
