Japan made FIFA World Cup history today with a spectacular 4-0 demolition of Tunisia, delivering the most dominant performance by an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) nation in tournament history.

The Samurai Blue became the first AFC team ever to score four goals in a single World Cup match, while also securing the region’s largest-ever margin of victory.

In the 1000th matchh of the FIFA World Cup, Daichi Kamada ignited the historic night by netting Japan’s fastest-ever World Cup goal in just the fourth minute, followed by an Ayase Ueda strike on the half-hour mark.

Junya Ito extended the lead to three in the 69th minute before Ueda capped off a magnificent brace with an 83rd-minute header, officially eliminating Tunisia and drawing Japan level with the Netherlands at the top of Group F.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands bounced back from their opening 2-2 draw against Japan with a statement 5-1 thrashing of Sweden in Houston.

Under immense pressure to perform, Ronald Koeman’s side systematically dismantled Graham Potter’s men in a ruthless attacking display.

Braces from both Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo put the Dutch firmly in control, before Crysencio Summerville added a late fifth to seal the emphatic victory and assert their dominance in Group F.

Over in Group E, Germany staged a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat the Ivory Coast 2-1 and secure their place in the round of 32.

The West African side struck first, with Franck Kessié breaking the deadlock after 30 minutes to put Germany on the ropes.

However, tactical adjustments by manager Julian Nagelsmann proved inspired, as substitute Deniz Undav completely turned the tide.

Undav struck an equalizer before popping up deep into stoppage time to fire home a dramatic winner, rescuing Germany’s tournament fortunes in spectacular fashion.

The day’s most stunning narrative, however, belonged to Curaçao, who pulled off a legendary defensive masterclass to hold a heavily favored Ecuador side to a 0-0 draw.

The result earned the Caribbean nation their first-ever FIFA World Cup point, sparking wild celebrations.

The undisputed hero of the match was veteran goalkeeper Eloy Room, who single-handedly frustrated the South American giants by making an astonishing 15 saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

Ecuador’s inability to find the back of the net rewrote the history books for all the wrong reasons.

Their 15 shots on target without scoring officially set a modern tournament record, marking the highest volume of accurate attempts in a single World Cup match without a goal since detailed data tracking began in 1966.

Despite the relentless onslaught, Curaçao’s heroic backline held firm to cap off an unforgettable day of World Cup action.
