On-Air Personality, Mayowa Lambe, has filed a cease-and-desist notice against her estranged husband, Robert Ekpenyong Ekpo, demanding N100 million in damages for alleged defamation. The legal action, initiated through the legal department of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation and signed by K. Umoh Esq., follows Ekpo’s recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.
In the notice dated April 22, 2026, Lambe’s representatives ordered Ekpo to immediately halt the dissemination of “fabricated allegations,” delete all related content, and issue a public apology on all platforms used to broadcast the remarks.
The controversy stems from a sit-down interview where Ekpo spoke extensively about the collapse of their decade-long relationship, alleging he discovered via social media that Lambe had remarried in Texas. During the podcast, he made several explosive claims, including allegations that Lambe used contraceptives in secret while he underwent fertility tests, and that she misled him into funding a cosmetic surgery under the guise of a procedure to aid conception. Ekpo also painted a picture of financial and emotional strain, claiming he supported her for years while she lived abroad, only to be treated with coldness during a 2025 visit.
Countering these narratives, Lambe’s legal team asserted that their traditional marriage was “mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families” prior to May 11, 2025. They maintain that no valid marital relationship existed after that date, rendering the accusations of infidelity and betrayal baseless. The legal notice further argues that Lambe possesses documented evidence—including financial records, medical reports, and third-party correspondences—that directly contradict Ekpo’s version of events regarding her character and their shared history.
The defense described Ekpo’s public statements as a “deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood” designed to generate public sympathy at the expense of Lambe’s reputation. The notice warns that failure to comply with the demands within three days will result in a full-scale lawsuit involving claims for aggravated damages and potential criminal complaints. As the deadline looms, the dispute has triggered a massive wave of social media commentary, with the public sharply divided over the private details of the couple’s high-profile split.
