The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially screened and cleared three presidential aspirants ahead of its upcoming nationwide primaries scheduled for Monday, May 25.

The development, which underscores the party’s intensified preparations for the forthcoming general elections, was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday by the PRP National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq.

The cleared contenders include former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke; prominent Abia State economist, Dr. Nnaoke Ufere; and Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley, a former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate from Edo State.

According to Ishaq, all three aspirants have unanimously agreed to submit their ambitions to the will of the party members through a democratic process during Monday’s internal polls.

The party leadership emphasized that the aspirants’ conduct reflects a deep-rooted commitment to internal democracy and consensus-building.

Ishaq further assured stakeholders that the PRP is dedicated to conducting credible, transparent, and free primaries for over 260 aspirants competing for various elective offices nationwide, particularly in constituencies where a consensus could not be reached.

As one of Nigeria’s oldest opposition parties—founded on the progressive ideology of the late Malam Aminu Kano—the PRP has spent recent months aggressively repositioning itself.

By attracting high-profile new entrants and expanding its grassroots base across the country, the party aims to establish itself as a formidable force in the upcoming general elections.
