Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof. Christopher Ekong, to be magnanimous in victory and remain steadfastly focused on maintaining excellent academic standards for the institution.
The Governor made the remark when he received the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Dr. Muiz Banire, along with members of the institution’s management team, during a courtesy visit to his office.
While offering his counsel, Governor Eno advised the new Vice Chancellor to draw a line from the past administration and focus strictly on moving the university forward.
He cautioned Prof. Ekong to resist the urge to probe previous administrations, warning that such distractions could easily derail him from his primary tracks and objectives.
Congratulating Prof. Ekong on his emergence, the Governor described the appointment as well-deserved.

He expressed absolute confidence in the new Vice Chancellor’s capacity to deliver effectively on the critical national assignment and elevate the institution’s prestige.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to human capital development, Governor Eno stated that Akwa Ibom State remains deeply committed to strategic investments in education.
He assured stakeholders that his administration will continue the consistent payment of bursaries to support students of the state origin in their academic pursuits.
Governor Eno concluded by assuring the university management of his administration’s unwavering willingness to support and partner with the institution.
He emphasized that this collaboration is vital not only for the growth of the university but also for the general good and socio-economic advancement of Akwa Ibom State and the nation at large.
