The Akwa Ibom State Government has reinforced its commitment to human capital development, announcing the successful recruitment of 7,069 personnel into the state workforce since Governor Umo Eno assumed office.
The disclosure was made by the State Head of Civil Service, Elsie Peters, while addressing journalists during a media briefing organized to mark the commencement of the Akwa Ibom State Public Service Week.
Providing a detailed breakdown of the employment figures, Peters explained that the newly recruited personnel were strategically deployed across critical sectors of the state’s economy, including education, healthcare, and the judiciary, alongside other vital arms of the public service.
According to the Head of Service, this massive recruitment drive forms a central pillar of Governor Eno’s administrative agenda, specifically designed to bridge existing manpower gaps, revitalize the civil service, and significantly enhance public service delivery to citizens.
In addition to the workforce expansion, Peters revealed that the administration has elevated key personnel to top leadership roles, successfully appointing 21 new Permanent Secretaries and an Acting Surveyor General to drive efficiency in governance.
