The Akwa Ibom State Government has issued a strong call to youths across the state, urging them to unite in support of government initiatives while shunning vandalism, crime, and other vices that threaten local development.
The appeal was made by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Ekerette Ekanem, during the ongoing Arise Youth Skills Week 2026.
He challenged young people to channel their energy into positive contributions that will establish Akwa Ibom as a thriving hub for creativity and innovation.
Highlighting strategic plans for the sector, Ekanem reiterated the ministry’s vision to decentralize youth development centers across all 31 local government areas of the state.
He explained that this initiative is specifically designed to bring empowerment opportunities directly to grassroots communities.
According to the commissioner, the state has set an ambitious target to empower approximately 155,000 youths through this localized approach.
He emphasized that bringing resources closer to the people will ensure broader participation and tangible results.
Concluding his address, Ekanem reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to creating sustainable opportunities.
He noted that equipping the younger demographic with relevant skills will make them economically productive and vital partners in the state’s continued growth.
