The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its air operations targeting terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across the North-West, deploying a heightened air presence particularly in Sokoto State.

According to a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, this strengthened deployment is designed to back ongoing joint security operations.

Ejodame noted that the enhanced aerial coverage is critical for tackling asymmetric threats, as criminal elements frequently exploit difficult terrain and mobility to evade ground troops.

By leveraging the speed, reach, and precision of air power, the service aims to locate and degrade hostile elements, denying them freedom of movement while creating strategic openings for surface forces to consolidate operational gains.

Reiterating the military’s firm resolve, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, emphasized that the evolving security climate demands timely intelligence and seamless integration across forces.

He stated that the NAF would continue to optimize air power decisively and professionally, ensuring close synergy with sister services while maintaining the highest regard for civilian safety.

The current escalation aligns directly with the Air Chief’s command philosophy, which centers on building a highly motivated, mission-ready force driven by intelligence-led operations, innovation, and operational readiness.

This strategic focus underscores the military’s broader push to dismantle criminal networks, restore permanent peace, and safeguard vulnerable communities.

Concluding the briefing, the NAF leadership reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

The service also appealed to members of the public to actively support ongoing security initiatives by sharing timely and credible information with the appropriate authorities.
