Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a multi-pronged attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Buratai axis of Borno State.

The decisive counter-offensive, which combined aggressive ground maneuvers with precision airstrikes, forced the fleeing insurgents to retreat after suffering devastating losses.

Crucially, the Nigerian Army confirmed that no military personnel were killed or injured during the fierce encounter.

According to an official statement released on Friday by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 19, 2026.

Insurgents targeted military locations along Dusten Kura and Chara road in Buratai, located within the Biu Local Government Area.

However, alert frontline troops, leveraging robust intelligence networks, promptly detected the enemy incursion before the terrorists could establish a foothold.

The military’s response was characterized by seamless synergy between land and air components. The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai played a pivotal role, utilizing advanced Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) alongside precision strike platforms from the Nigerian Air Force.

This synchronized aerial support integrated perfectly with the ground forces, effectively disrupting the assault mid-trajectory and shattering the terrorists’ advance.

In the aftermath of the failed raid, the Theatre Command commended the exceptional coordination exhibited by the joint forces, hailing it as a testament to the effectiveness of the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.

While the terrorists suffered significant depletion of both personnel and combat hardware, the leadership of Operation Hadin Kai reiterated its unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive offensive operations.

The military further urged local residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, actionable intelligence to security agencies.
