Two weeks after the August 15 Osun State governorship election, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji has accepted the outcome of the poll and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was officially declared the winner of the fiercely contested election, prompting a major political shift in the state’s leadership.
In a signed statement released on Saturday, Oyebamiji expressed deep gratitude to APC members and supporters for their resilience, sacrifices, and unwavering belief in his candidacy.
He also extended special appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their steadfast guidance and support throughout the campaign.
While conceding defeat, Oyebamiji strongly condemned the violence that marred the electoral process, demanding accountability for the lives lost.
He called on relevant security agencies to launch thorough investigations to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice, emphasizing that no political contest is worth the life of any Nigerian, while noting his camp will pursue legitimate concerns through lawful and constitutional means.
Looking ahead, the APC standard-bearer urged party stakeholders to close ranks, strengthen existing structures, and rededicate themselves to the challenges of the future.
He stressed that the immediate priority for the party in the state is to mobilize robust support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensure the success of all APC candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Governor Adeleke had previously extended an olive branch to his opponents, describing the poll as a contest with “no victor, no vanquished” and urging rival candidates to set aside partisan differences to support his administration. With Oyebamiji’s formal concession, the political landscape in Osun is poised for a period of reconciliation as both camps pivot toward national mobilization.
