President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Lagos on Friday evening following a high-powered, three-nation diplomatic and investment tour of France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja at approximately 7:12 pm.
He was warmly received by a high-ranking delegation led by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor, Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
According to an official statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, the multi-leg tour focused heavily on pitching Nigeria’s recent economic reforms to the global community.
While in France, President Tinubu engaged with international investors to emphasize his administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal discipline.
The diplomatic itinerary also included his participation in the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya—an event co-hosted by French President, Emmanuel Macron, and Kenyan President, William Ruto—where Tinubu held a sideline bilateral meeting with Madagascan President, Michael Randrianirina.
During the Nairobi summit, President Tinubu strongly advocated for a comprehensive overhaul of the global financial architecture and championed stronger regional integration to prioritize Africa’s collective prosperity.
He specifically highlighted Nigeria’s emerging blue economy as a cornerstone for continental development, offering to share Nigeria’s maritime intelligence infrastructure with partner states in the Gulf of Guinea.
Continuing his economic drive in Kigali, Rwanda, the President joined global CEOs and investors at the Africa CEO Forum to discuss cross-border investments, while also holding private bilateral talks with Rwandan President, Paul Kagame.
The extensive diplomatic mission concluded with highly favorable outcomes following strategic meetings with multinational delegations, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), APM Terminals, and the Winme Group.
With his return to Lagos, the President’s focus pivots back to domestic politics as he prepares to participate in the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.
Ahead of the exercise, President Tinubu issued a statement to party faithful, urging all participants to maintain peace and approach the primaries with sportsmanship in the overall interest of the nation.
