2027 Presidency: Coalition Endorses Goodluck Jonathan, Begins Nationwide Mobilisation

The Coalition for Goodluck Jonathan 2027 has declared former President Goodluck Jonathan as the most qualified and experienced leader capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges, confirming ongoing efforts to position him for the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at an international press conference in Abuja, the coalition’s president, Tom Ohikere, said the group is actively mobilising support across Nigeria and the diaspora to facilitate Jonathan’s return to national leadership.

Ohikere described the coalition as a central coordinating platform bringing together various support groups with a shared objective of restoring stability, reviving economic confidence, and promoting responsible governance.

He noted that Nigeria is currently grappling with significant economic and security challenges, including rising inflation, unemployment, insecurity, and currency instability, which have worsened hardship for citizens and eroded public trust in governance.

According to him, the situation demands experienced leadership with a deep understanding of governance, adding that Jonathan’s track record across multiple levels of public service positions him strongly for the task ahead.

“Jonathan remains one of the few Nigerians with comprehensive experience in governance and a proven record of national leadership,” Ohikere said.

The coalition emphasised its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, promoting credible elections, and upholding the rule of law, stressing that restoring public confidence in governance remains a top priority.

It also highlighted the need for inclusive governance that reflects Nigeria’s diversity, fosters national unity, and reduces political tensions across regions.

Referencing Jonathan’s previous administration, the group said his tenure demonstrated commitment to democratic values, institutional stability, and economic reforms. It added that the outcomes of the 2014 National Conference remain relevant to ongoing conversations around national restructuring.

The coalition further criticised remarks by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar questioning Jonathan’s experience, describing the comments as inaccurate and inconsistent with his record in public service.
