Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to opening up rural communities through aggressive road construction.
Speaking with journalists shortly after inspecting several ongoing projects in Nsit Ubium and Eket Local Government Areas, the Governor emphasized that connecting rural areas is vital for the free flow of goods and services, which will ultimately stimulate the state’s overall economy.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the various project sites he visited. He noted that his administration remains dedicated to delivering people-centric projects in strict alignment with his ARISE Agenda.
Governor Eno underscored that these infrastructure drives are specifically designed to improve living conditions, boost rural connectivity, and drive grassroots growth, while firmly advising contractors to strictly adhere to the agreed project delivery timelines.
During the inspection tour, the Commissioner for Works, Professor Eno Ibanga, provided a detailed overview of the strategic Nsit Ubium–Eket road project.
He disclosed that the project features a 2.4-kilometer dual-carriageway complete with a 120-meter bridge. According to the Commissioner, this critical infrastructure will serve as a major economic catalyst, paving the way for the surrounding communities along the axis to thrive commercially.
Accompanied by top government functionaries, the Governor’s project tour covered several key development sites.
These included the ongoing 2.4-kilometer Ofriyo road and its 120-meter span bridge linking Nsit Ubium and Eket, the General Hospital, and the Model Primary School in Nsit Ubium.
The delegation also inspected the dualization of the 11.6-kilometer Ikot Imoh–Junction Eket Road, showcasing a multi-sectoral approach to regional development.
