The Supreme Court has fixed April 22, 2026, to hear an appeal filed by the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, over the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, granted an accelerated hearing of the case and approved a fast-tracked timeline for the exchange of legal briefs.
The court directed counsel to the appellant, Jibril Okutepa (SAN), to file and serve the appellant’s brief on Wednesday. It also ordered the respondents to file their replies within three days of receiving the appellant’s brief, while the appellant is to submit any reply within one day.
The appeal challenges the March 12 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The lower court had refused to grant the injunctive relief sought in an ex parte application filed by ADC chieftain, Nafiu Bala Gombe.
The case is part of a broader legal battle over leadership control within the ADC, with multiple court decisions shaping the internal power struggle.
More details are expected as the hearing date approaches.
