The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has released its official timetable and fee structure for the 2027 general elections.
According to the schedule disclosed by the faction’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, the group has set the total cost for presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦51 million, while governorship aspirants will be required to pay ₦21 million.
The comprehensive timetable outlines a rapid administrative rollout, with the party slated to submit its membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on April 21, 2026, followed by a formal notification of primaries on April 22. The sale of forms is scheduled to commence on April 27 and conclude on May 4. Notably, the party has introduced a gender-inclusive policy, stating that female aspirants will only be required to pay the expression of interest fee for their respective positions.
According to the party’s roadmap, a series of high-stakes primaries will take place throughout May. The presidential primary is fixed for May 18, followed by National Assembly contests between May 21 and May 23, and governorship primaries on May 27. Screening for all aspirants will be conducted between May 11 and May 12, with the party aiming to conclude all internal appeals by the end of the month. Other fees include ₦6 million for Senate, ₦4 million for the House of Representatives, and ₦3 million for State Houses of Assembly.
This move comes as the PDP remains fractured into two primary camps: one led by Abdulrahman Mohammed with Wike’s support, and another led by Tanimu Turaki, backed by Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed. The legitimacy of these rival factions remains a matter of intense legal scrutiny. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court addressed several pending cases related to the leadership struggle, informing both parties that a date for a final judgment will be communicated in due course.
